License Plate Safe Installation Instructions
1. Lift the dust cover from the bottom to access the lock dials. Always lift the cover from the bottom. The top is designed to stay attached. You can swing the dust cover out of the way once opened from the bottom to access lock dials.
* If you accidentally remove the dust cover from the top it can be reattached. You can line up the end of the tab with the hole while folding the bottom of the dust cover up so you have a clear view of the tab on the hole. Then use a small pointy object to push the tab in. Once pushed in, put some pressure on the dust cover with your thumb and a twisting motion to make sure it's fully inserted back in.
2. Set combination lock dials to opening combination (factory default 0-0-0-0) and open the License Plate Safe door.
3. Remove included contents - RFID Blocking Faraday Pouch, 2 sets screws (4), and a set of washers (4). License Plate Safe provides 2 sizes of screws that should fit most vehicles, but some vehicles may still use special screws. You can also use your current screws along with the provided washers.
4. Remove the license plate on your vehicle. LPS can be installed on the rear or front of your vehicle using the existing license plate screw holes. Certain vehicles may require customization when using front mounts.
5. Install License Plate Safe onto your vehicle as you would a normal license plate using the interior screw holes with the washer and correct size screws for your vehicle. We recommend mounting with all 4 screws for best support. Some vehicles without 4 screw holes may require addition of screw holes.
6. Once License Plate Safe is mounted to your vehicle insert your license plate through the slot on the anti-theft door frame while the door is in the open position. Make sure the license plate is inserted all the way in so it does not interfere with closing the door.
7. Verify the combination is set to open position (factory default 0-0-0-0). Close the door, hold it in the closed position, and scramble the dials to lock License Plate Safe.
8. Close dust cover by inserting the bottom tab back into closed position.
9. When stashing your car key FOB use the included RFID blocking faraday pouch (or your own preferred faraday pouch) in order to block the car key signal.
10. Repeat step 2 above to unlock and open LPS.
Combination Set/Reset Instructions
You can set a new 4-digit combination for your License Plate Safe anytime by following the below directions:
1. Set to current opening combination (factory default 0-0-0-0).
2. Test to make sure you are on the opening combination by opening and closing the door.
3. Push the silver reset tab on the back of the combination lock over from position B to position A (reset position) as shown here.
4. Set your desired combination. MAKE NOTE OF YOUR NEW COMBINATION AND WRITE IT DOWN. IF YOU FORGET OR LOSE YOUR COMBINATION YOU WILL BE LOCKED OUT! THERE IS NO WAY TO RETRIEVE YOUR CODE.
5. Once you have set the new combination, return the silver reset tab to the original position (B).
6. Double check the dials to make sure you have set the combination to the numbers you intended.
7. IMPORTANT, TEST YOUR COMBINATION! With the door still open, scramble the dials and try closing the door. When the dials are scrambled the door will not be able to fully close. Set the dials back to your combination and close the door. The door should now be able to properly close.
